Why did you create this website?

While researching for publishers and agents, an agent offered me the advice to create a website as a sort of online resume that a potential publisher or agent can review to find out more about myself and my work.  As I am a relatively private person I have found it difficult to create something that is candid enough to sell myself, but at the same time keep my private affairs and information private.  As I will share news and opinions that I feel like sharing, do not expect me to post a webcam of myself or a daily blog detailing me brushing my teeth or other unmentionable occurrences in my life.

Why did you become a writer?

I have a tendency to over analyze things in life which leads my thinking in new directions from the ordinary. Writing is the only outlet I have to express those ideas and concepts. If I won the lottery, I would likely buy an island to live on so I could devote my time to just writing without distraction.

Do you accept story ideas?

No.
I have enough story ideas in my head struggling to get out; I don't need other people’s ideas. Besides, I don't need someone coming down the road to sue me saying I stole their idea.

Where do you get your ideas?

The voices wake me in the night and demand I type while they dictate.  Actually, I get my ideas from the world around me. I may see something while driving or read about something in the news and bring them together in some usual relationship then try to logically (or illogically) work out the results of that union. I also try to incorporate things from the events of my life. Some say a good story results from paying attention to detail, but I believe that a great story results from paying attention to and learning from the details of events from your own life.

Will you read my manuscript and tell me what you think?

No.
I only do such a thing for trusted friends and associates. I also avoid this for legal reasons as I do not want to be sued by someone saying I stole their story or idea. My best defense to such an accusation is that I never read the story in the first place.

Can you tell me the name of a good agent and/or publisher?

Check either the book or website for the Literary Market Place.

Where would be a good place to send my writing?

Again, check out either the book or website for the Literary Market Place for publishers or agents.

Who are/were the human beings that you admire most?

Mark Twain, Mahatma Gandhi, John Lennon, Albert Einstein, Johnny Cash, and my Dad. (Not necessarily in that order)

Can you give me some writing tips?

The best advice I can offer is that once you finish the story and complete your first edit, stick it in a drawer for several months then go back over it in a fresh state of mind to tweak it.

How can I find out if you’re going to be doing any book signings or appearances?

If I ever become successful enough to warrant a book signing, I will post it here on this website.  If you are lucky, you can find me at the Waffle House on Hwy 41 early Sunday mornings from 2:00 AM to 3:00 AM.  Bring a pen!

What is your email address?

I have no public email address and do not give out my personal email address.

What is Jello? Is it a vegetable?

No.  Technically it qualifies as a meat product. Trust me!  You REALLY do not want to know.
